We usually avoid booking public houses; however from time to time some pubs and Inns cannot be ignored due to their extreme paranormal activity and fascinating stories. "Ye Old White Harte", in the heart of Kingston upon Hull's old town is one of those locations that demands the attention of the paranormal community. A mysterious skull of a young woman with the jaw bone of a boy sits at the back the small bar, even the sceptical owner is wary of moving the creepy artefact to avoid it's haunting tantrums. This grade II listed building is steeped in history as it was to be the property of Kings and governors. “Ye Old White Harte” dates back to 1550 and boast to be one of the oldest buildings in the town.
To avoid telling you too much about the history of this extraordinary building we will only tell you some of the paranormal incidents that have happened here.
The sound of footsteps walking across the restaurant floor has been witnessed by the general public in the downstairs bar area.
One of the residents went to the toilet one night, stood washing his hand and notices a man stood behind him. He started talking to him and suddenly realises that this shadow of a person had no legs. The ghostly image was only there for 30 seconds before disappearing.
Couple of years ago one of the locals was playing the old piano in one of the upstairs rooms and was startled when suddenly he noticed a figure of a person slowly appearing next to him.
On another occasion a man was seen wearing a black cloak with a gold mask, he appeared to be dressed for a masked ball.
Last year when the fire extinguisher was being checked the engineer turned to the manager and asked who was the lady dressed in blue on the stairs? The manager replied that the chef was the only other person who was in the building.
Probably two of the most disturbing incidents were when the previous landlord and landlady were awoken by a woman’s scream within their room and on another occasion a lady who stayed at the pub felt someone climb onto the bed. She described the incident to be very frightening; it was as if someone was actually waking on the bed.
Although the manager confesses to be a total sceptic he doesn’t like moving the old skull from its location behind the bar due to strange occurrences that have happened when it has been moved.
