The Lancaster Grand Theatre is the third oldest operating theatre in England. Originally built in 1782 during the reign of George III and has been a major part of the social and cultural life since that time. The theatre was rebuilt in 1908 after a fire gutted the interior and was lovingly restored to its current Edwardian style.

The theatre staff and customers are proud of its history and the many famous people who have performed at this lovely little theatre, from Charles Dickens to Edmund Kean.   

This little gem in Lancaster however has not only got a reputation for its history but also for being extremely haunted and has had many disturbing and frightening experiences.

One particular night the lights went off in the wardrobe department and at the same time the curtains moved, the staff went to investigate and were startled and frighten by a very large bang from beneath their feet that was describe as been so loud and intense that they could feel the vibrations though their entire body. Nobody could explain the cause of the noise.

In the last six months the activity in the Lancaster Grand Theatre has intensified to the extent that the night duty manager refuses to enter the building on his own. Dark shadows are frequently seen gliding pass the stage, followed by an overwhelming feeling of being watched. Sprung loaded seats come down on their own, and the most extraordinary experience to date was when a woman left in the middle of a show when she was disturbed by the fact that she could see through a woman who was sat in front of her. 

• We will conduct a workshop to teach you how to increase your  sensitivity & skills required to carry out a successful ghost hunt.
